Job opportunity – Otter Estuary Ranger

Do you have a passion for wildlife, strong ecological knowledge and enjoy sharing nature with the public? This is an exciting opportunity to join our small but dynamic team managing two nature reserves in East Devon – the Otter Estuary and the Pebblebed Heaths NNR.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual with strong ecological and wildlife monitoring knowledge to lead on the day-to-day management of the Otter Estuary Nature Reserve, ensuring that it meets its conservation objectives following a multimillion pound managed realignment project due for completion in 2023. An important component of the role will be leading on the delivery of the Otter Estuary’s ecological monitoring programme to track the successful development of the nature reserve.

Previous experience of positive engagement with the public, and confidence in upholding access rules, to minimise disturbance to wildlife while enabling people to enjoy the countryside will be crucial to ensure the reserve fulfils its potential for both wildlife and local communities.

If you are committed to driving nature recovery, have an interest in nature-based climate adaptation, and a proactive approach to public engagement we would love to hear from you.
