Supporting Budleigh Brownies

On Tuesday and Wednesday nights 15 brownies led by Brown Owl Eve White explored the Pebblebed Heaths at dusk, with staff of the Conservation Trust on hand to guide and answer questions on the wildlife. The girls from both groups were extremely keen and excited to be out and about on the heathland wilderness. The highlight of the walks was exploring ponds and streams of Colaton Raleigh Common. The evenings were not primarily about education but about enjoyment, but being outside and essentially self-led seemed to make the girls keen for knowledge on everything from stars to licehns, mosses, birds and snakes. It was great fun to be asked to accompany the group and we hope to be involved on future outings.
