Grey phalarope on the Otter Estuary

The grey phalarope is not a usuaGrey phalarope smalll winter visitor to the Otter Estuary, or indeed to Bristish shores, so its appearance on the Otter Estuary has been the cause of some excitement amongst local bird watchers of late. This species breeds in the arctic, but spends the majority of its life at sea. Sightings in the UK are generally coastal and often coincide with storm events that have caused individual birds to be blown off route.
