David Webster, Chief Executive of Natural England spent the morning at Clinton Devon Estates. Joined by Eamon Crowe the local Natural England Land Management Advisor, David met with the staff of the Pebblebed Heaths Conservation Trust, and was taken for a tour of the heathland, including to Woodbury Common which was recently upgraded to favourable conservation status in 2013 after its last ecological assessment. Much of the work undertaken by the Conservation Trust is supported through the Higher Level Stewardship Scheme, and we were delighted to showcase the work undertaken with this support. The visit included a brief stop at Budleigh Salterton where the group discussed the potential benefits and constraints of a managed realignment of the river to improve its ecological health.
